We are not born as RACISTS.

You've got to be taught to hate and fear. You've got to be taught from year to year,
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear. You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid of people whose eyes are oddly made,
and people whose skin is a different shade. You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late, before you are six or seven or eight,
to hate all the people your relatives hate. You've got to be carefully taught,” *

* lyrics from the 1949 musical “South Pacific” by Rodgers & Hammerstein

This was such a classic show and the lyrics on this tune so true!

Loved South Pacific and that song. But with a little luck we can be born into a mildly racist family like I was and not be one ourselves.

What a shame that of all the wonderful traits that could be taught, some people still teach their children to be racists. For them, it is the only way they can think of to make themselves superior to other people.
