I
swore I was through writing about the sad demise of our wonderful
country under Trump and his bunch of Republican sycophants … but I
find I can't do that. I am afraid that his tactics are working…
at least with me. I am exhausted with trying to keep up with his
tricky and sleazy tactics and I just want to hide my head in the sand
like this:
But
I know that I can't do that. I will get no relief and he and his
confidantes will have taken our country even deeper into the swamp of
his making.
I
am petrified and hoping I'm not alone … do you, Blogger friends, have
the same concerns and how do you handle them and still retain your
sanity?

My son Mark who reads my blog just wrote this to me. It makes lots of sense.
"I must say that the actual way to "defeat" him is just ignore him! We have been jumping to his every gesture and utterance ever since he was elected and it is just stupid. Our institutions are fine and this will not last forever. So we are not hiding our head in the sand, instead we are just realizing it is a much bigger sandbox than he can even comprehend. Truly a sad and pathological figure, albeit in a very dangerous position for this country."
I get and also suffer from this. Enough already. But of course we can't. Sigh.
I have exactly the same concerns. I have stopped watching TV "news" because of the intense focus on every breath that idiot takes. I get my news from fact-based Internet sites. I actually leave the room if my husband is watching the "news."
He is quite good at throwing smoke screens out for us to watch while the truly scary stuff often goes unnoticed. It will be a glorious day when his name no longer dominates our news.
Sad to say, Ginnie, but I agree with your son’s assessment on how to deal with the news. I check the news online daily, but I do not dwell on or read every article, especially when it deals with you-know-who...he who shall remain nameless.
I too sympathize. Ever since the debates and election I have been depressed on and off. His ignorance combined with his insane tweeting and rude behavior are incredible. I could not believe that I actually received a message from his daughter-in-law. It showed on my phone as "Donald J. Trump 202-864-4200." When I tracked the number, I read her message and have blocked that number. Bad enough his son-in-law, both sons, and daughter are involved. Now he has his daughter-in-law speaking for him. Unbelievable! I highly recommend nomorobo.com to help avoid robocalls - particularly with the upcoming election. I'm very anxious about the amount of damage his administration has managed to create and the time it will take to get things back on an even keel. It's frightening. I've never seen anything like this in Washington during my lifetime and hope to never to see it again.
The fight is still ahead. Rest for a bit and be ready, Ginnie!
I just read the headlines on the Washington Post, the Nytimes and the BBC in London. The details may change but it always the same $%^%& and Iknow its all the same awful stuff perpetrated by the same idiot. Iv'e run out of words to describe that man awful man in new and creative was so I turn to the Minneapolis Star and Tribune and read the sports page about my beloved Minnesota Gopher teams.....
I keep track of govt. actions, what our leader does, but don’t obsess about them. I don’t waste my time with FB and Twitter blather from him and about him; avoid saying and writing his name. I think there is little which he will not do to retain power so expect there is much more to which we will be subjected.. I have hope that more and more people are finally seeing the the situation and are going to work to save our nation.
