A new day … “The Hill We Climb”
It was a very uplifting swearing in of our new President Joe Biden today and thank God it was without incident. His acceptance speech was inspiring and the musical tributes were fine, but for me the highlight of the proceedings was on this 22 year old.
Her name is Amanda Gorman and she is the nation's first ever National Youth Poet Laureate. After she gave a few introductory sentences about her background she read her poem “The Hill We Climb” that she wrote specifically for the period that we are facing now. Here is a short sample...
“The new dawn blooms as we free it
for there is always light,
if only we're brave enough to see it,
if only we're brave enough to be it.”
Her words alone were not what made it so magical … her extreme enthusiasm and joy made it come alive and, if you missed it, I recommend that you click on one of the many videos that I'm sure will be flooding the airways very soon.

It was a great poem so beautifully delivered!
We can breathe again and not be afraid that an evil man will blow up the planet.
FINALLY. Sure took forever to get rid of him.
I did see it and was quite impressed but was shocked to learn she was 22. She looked very much like a young teen. Lets see, 13 more years and she can run for president.
I didn't catch most of the ceremony, but I did see the Poet Laureate, and she and her words were both sensational.
I, too, was impressed with this young lady’s poem — especially reminding us we're a young nation. Our mistakes have not broken us, we are simply unfinished. Let’s hope more of our citizens recognize and learn from the mistakes.
