A letter to my blogger friends

I have given much thought to what I am about to do.  I am 89 years old and have been blogging since July, 2006.  It has greatly enriched my life to know you all...some close to home and some of you from parts of the world that I will never get to in this lifetime !

It was a very different world then and we have had our ups and downs in the U.S., but nothing like we are going through now.  As I look back I can pin-point exactly when the "big change" began,  It was in 2010 when the very right wing Tea Party won the majority of seats for the House in the mid-term election .  Although Obama won a 2nd term he was stymied by that and, as unbelievable as can be, Donald Trump became our 45th President.

All of us, Democrats, Republicans and Independents have been remiss in our naivete.  We should have seen what was coming by Trumps horrifying inaugural acceptance speech.  We, the believers of our country who were not racists should have taken our clue from that and done everything in our power to push back from his very first lie. I just can't believe that our beloved country is so fragile that we have allowed the low life of our citizenry to take over ... not to mention the radicalization of the Republicans in the House and the Senate.

For the last 4 months I've made a decision to stay away from politics.  I have chosen memories from my past to share with you and I hope you have enjoyed them.  However I find I am consumed with fear for the future of our country.  I just don't feel I can continue on a light note, as I have, and I don't want to bore you with my political rants.  So this is my last Goldendaze-Ginnie blog entry.

Thank you all, dear friends, for sharing your lives with me.  The last 16 years with you has been one of the highlights of my life.  With love to all ...Ginnie

Oh, Ginnie, I will miss your blogging! I hope you visit my blog occasionally or even give me a call, if you feel like talking. I do have your mobile number in my phone and will answer (I only answer when I know someone). May the rest of your life be filled with JOY, my friend.

First of all, this was well written and so true, every word of it. Ginnie I very much appreciate you taking the time to share this. Secondly, I've only known you a few short weeks but in that time, enjoyed very much what I've read. I'm sorry you are saying goodbye, and all I can say is I hope you have a change of heart and return.

My first thought was "say it ain't so" but that would be selfish of me. I have enjoyed your posts and visits into your life and will miss you.
I hope you enjoy the retirement from blogging but hope also the itch will get you again and you will return. Do take care and enjoy your new time free from blogging.

I'm so sad that I won't wake up to read your blog and sip my morning coffee but I completely understand why you've chosen to stop. I too feel the same way you do about our country. I've been sick to death about the absurdity of winding up w/ Trump. It's like a bad disease that won't go away. Although I will miss you very much I wish you good health, and peaceful times pursuing what makes you content. Hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine where I'm retired - having lived in Stanfordville, NY, FL, VT, and CT. Regina

I can appreciate how you feel about the situation with our government. I, too, have even considered ending my blogging but not solely because of the political craziness. In fact, I did stop blogging a decade or more ago, basically for about a year as I recall, but not due to the state of our union or world conditions. Should the mood strike you later to write a bit here at whatever frequency by all means do so. Your "two cents worth" thoughts are always welcome on my blog whatever I might be writing about. Enjoy your blog retirement should you not return. I've enjoyed reading what you've shared here, political thoughts, memoir, and all.

While I haven't been reading your column the entire sixteen years, I have so enjoyed your stories you've featured as well as those in your memoir. It's been wonderful to come to your column and find delightful writing.

Many of us join you in dismay at what's happening. The first time I realized that things had changed is when many of our friends asked us to attend the first organizational meeting for the Tea Party here, claiming it was bipartisan. We turned down the invitation, but soon they were organizing to protest our local Congressperson's town hall to explain the benefits of the ACA. They shouted him down every time he tried to answer a question, so that people who had attended to learn could not hear. They ran for local government positions to campaign for "no taxes." They sent out mass emails to friends. One was about Clinton, promoting a proven falsehood. I, thinking surely the sender just hadn't yet learned that correct information and would want to correct the email he'd sent out, so naively replied to him and gave him the correct information. His reply? I don't care, as long as it makes people hate that b***h. I knew discourse was over.

I hope you can bask in the knowledge that you have provided information, laughter, and a moment away from the rancor to so many of us.

(from my friend Jan)

Ah, my dearest friend.
It was thru this blog that our friendship began. As you know, Philip has not been with us for a few years now... I have often wondered what he would have said about the Rump and the deterioration of America under the Tea Party, and now the MAGA bunch.

I gave up on blogger a few years ago when I had so much trouble posting on it. And as I got older, I found some battles weren't worth the effort. As long as I still had you - and even better, on a daily basis, who needed blogger? Most of the other blogs I used to read were slowly disappearing. So, I am sorry you will not be in the blog-o-sphere where I kept up with reading you but had decided not to trouble you with my comments that you then had to reprint on your blog yourself... too much trouble - since I was "talking" to you most everyday anyway.

In the off chance that you will be reading a very late comment, Ginnie, I am sending all good wishes for a happy and healthy 2023 and hope that your holidays were spent in joy, peace and love. Sorry to be so late in wishing you well, but mistakenly thought I had done so months ago. While I understand your blog quitting decision, which is yours to make, it has been my pleasure to meet a fellow NJ native. The world is a tumultuous and often toxic environment and exactly why I avoid hit topics, especially concerning religion and politics. We all have our opinions, as we should, but sadly they can often be misconstrued. Good luck with whatever you have been doing, my blogger friend.

Maybe, sometime in 2023, you will post an update on how you have been doing.

Oh Ginnie. My babies are now adults and I know you loved reading about my four children and my family escapades over the 16 years. I was thinking of you even though I haven't blogged in a long time and here I am. Wishing you all the very best and thankyou for your insight and your beautiful writing. Love Cazzie from Australia

Hello everyone on here, I want to share with you all a great testimony on how I was cured by Dr Jekawo, who cured so many diseases.
I was suffering from herpes and diabetes also my little sister was a victim of blood cancer too but with the help of Dr Jekawo we are all fine, well with his natural remedies that he prepare then send to us through dhl courier he then instruct us on how to drink the herbal medicines which we did and today we are completely well, we have being living free for 2 years now and it's seems like a God sent when I met him online by a lady giving testimony online like I'm doing right now.also I have introduce Dr Jekawo to several colleagues from works suffering from different kind of diseases and Dr Jekawo has healed all of them with his herbal knowledge. he's a great man with ancestral power to cure people with herpes,cancer,diabetes,hepatitis,hpv,lupus,als,hiv/aids, also spiritual consultation he's available for that as well.
I email him on: drjekawo@gmail.com because that's the only source to get to him as he lives far from the United state,I told him that I will be giving testimony on his behalf because he's a good man with a Godly heart.
