SPRING IS . . .

Spring is when your little girl wears pinafores,

When hopes are reborn and the rent is paid on time.

* * * * *

Spring is feeling ten feet tall and brand new,

A fairyland of green-on-green where all things are possible.

(I wrote this in 1966 when my little girl was almost 5 years old.)

Very sweet--and the illustration matches perfectly.
I love pinafores. And I love little girls looking like little girls, not miniature teens as so many do today.

How sweet! I wore pinafores all through my childhood; made by my mom in organdy and trimmed with rickrack.

Very nice. I like that. It's much nicer than ...
'Spring is sprung.
The grass is ris.
I wonder where the birdies is ?'
:-)
